Putin says Russia’s spatial development tied to infrastructure
ST. PETERSBURG, Apr 27 (PRIME) – Russia’s spatial development means not only development of large agglomerations, but is also tied to improvement of transport infrastructure, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday at a meeting with the council of lawmakers of the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house.
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said that spatial development was tied with large agglomerations.
“This is not completely true. You are right that there is such a point of view, but another approach is winning now, and this approach is about connecting spatial development of the country with development of transport infrastructure and other infrastructure among localities so that the space between them becomes inhabited,” Putin said.
He also said that the government has many options to fight consequences of over-production, including provision of preferences and benefits, but it has to avoid establishment of a new edition of Soviet-style state plans, as it would hurt the economy.
